CROMARTY, living by the sea
Steps

by Jacquie Ross (née Winton), born in Cromarty

Dad built me steps

We live on the seafront

Separated from the beach

By the high sea wall, so

Dad built me steps

Years of endless fun

Beachcombing, paddling and

Learning to swim, because

Dad built me steps

Thirty years on; a storm

Washed my steps away

His grandchildren were upset

Their access to the beach was gone

Dad built them steps

Comments about Steps

Lovely poem - very atmospheric. I'm thinking of using it with my Year2 class this summer.
